...  Spain is one of the 15 European Union (EU15) member countries that spends the least on public health. In 2008, the fi rst year of the fi nancial crisis, Spain spent 6·5% of GDP, while the average for the EU15 member states was 7·3%, according to Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.
